Medication for Gynecomastia

Are you a man experiencing gynecomastia, or man boobs? If so, you've probably wondered if there might be some type of medication for gynecomastia that you can take to resolve the problem. And the answer is technically no, but possibly yes.

There isn't technically any medication available for gynecomastia, but since the problem is often not true gynecomastia but a false version, you could try using standard weight loss or fat burning medications to treat that specific problem.

Let me explain...

Gynecomastia is a medical condition which generally affects young teenage boys who are going through puberty. Because their hormones are way out of whack, the boys tend to develop breast tissue. This tissue can often be quite sensitive to the touch, is generally located right under the nipple - hence another popular term for it is puffy nipples - and can sometimes even cause milk to be excreted from the nipple.

This version of gynecomastia does not have any medications that can be used to treat it. It's actually a normal condition, and it will resolve itself in roughly one to three years without any medications.

Now, there's another form of man boobs that's more common in grown men. The primary symptom is the same: Enlarged breast areas. There's not usually any tenderness though, and no milk production because this is actually a false form of gynecomastia that's caused by having too much fat in the breast area.

Since this is actually caused by weight gain, obesity and fat deposits, you could theoretically take medications designed for weight loss, which would also help to resolve the gynecomastia problems.

Most doctors and medical professionals won't actually prescribe weight loss medications to anyone who's not dangerously obese. If you fit into that category then it's a good idea to talk to your own doctor and see if there are medications they can prescribe for you.

If you're not able to get prescription medications from your doctor, you might want to try some of the widely available weight loss, fat loss, and metabolism boosting medications that are available for purchase over the counter.

Realize though, that these are not technically medications for gynecomastia itself. But again, if your man boob problems have been caused because you've gained too much weight and body fat, these medications can help with both overall body fat issues, and with the gynecomastia issues too.

There are of course many alternatives to taking medication for gynecomastia that you might want to look at. Protein rich diets for instance, can help stimulate fat burning in your body. It also helps to reduce or eliminate simple sugars and carbohydrates.

Anything which helps to boost your metabolism will also encourage fat loss in the body as well. Good fiber rich foods help with this, as does simple herbs such as Cayenne or Kelp.

Last but not least, another alternative to finding medications for gynecomastia is to simply exercise. Any kind of cardio exercises help boost your metabolism and burn body fat, as does interval training workouts, and general sports activities.
